ISSUE II: IRIDESCENCE

October 17, 2020

Iridescence is defined as “the phenomenon of certain surfaces that appear to gradually change colour as the angle of view of the angle of illumination changes”. Like an object that is iridescent, a person has so much more value and inner beauty that is not visible to the eye. Different perspectives can reveal new depths to an individual. Therefore, the theme that this issue focuses on is racism. This includes the BLM movement, racist impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, general xenophobia, or anything that celebrates  different cultures/heritages. ⁣

Racism is an issue that has been plaguing our world for centuries. Although a lot of progress has been made, both institutional and systemic racism have become increasingly relevant as a result of events such as the death of George Floyd. People of colour struggle to combat the prejudice and discrimination that they face in their lives and strive for equality and justice. The team at Elysian Archives believes that racism is a crucial theme to address especially in these times.
